The Hotshots now lead 3-2 and are one win away from making a return trip to the All-Filipino Finals.

Magnolia has taken over.

The Hotshots survived the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters anew, this time pulling off an 82-74 Game 5 win Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

The Hotshots now lead 3-2 and are one win away from making a return trip to the All-Filipino Finals.

“We just tried to be consistent playing Magnolia basketball,” said head coach Chito Victolero.

“We focused more on our defense, limited their scores to under 90 points. I’m so proud and happy, na-execute ng mga players ko. We were aggressive, the energy is there. Everything na kailangan namin to win this game pinakita ng players ko,” he added.

Up by only four in the final minute, Magnolia withstood a strong ROS defensive stand as Jio Jalalon found a wide-open Rafi Reavis just underneath the basket for the dagger.

On the other end, the Elasto Painters missed consecutive shots from deep and Magnolia walked off with another tough win.

Jalalon and Mark Barroca led Magnolia in scoring with 14 points apiece while four other players had at least eight points.

Gabe Norwood led the ROS offense with 15, 11 in the third quarter, but it was not enough for the win. James Yap added 12 for the Elasto Painters.

Magnolia can close on Friday with Game 6 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
