Marcio played almost 33 minutes but shot 0/8 from the field and scored zero points in Game 1.
One key factor missing for San Miguel during a Game 1 loss to Magnolia in the Philippine Cup Finals was Marcio Lassiter.
Marcio played almost 33 minutes but shot 0/8 from the field and scored zero points.
San Miguel’s top gunner even badly missed a corner three late in the game that would have tied things up at 97-all.
Lassiter, who dealt with back issues in the semifinals against Phoenix, says he’s just in the process of getting his flow back and that everything is fine.
“I think it’s more about getting my rhythm, it’s not really my injury that’s affecting me because I feel good. I was out 12 days, almost two weeks since I last played long minutes so I’m just trying to bet my rhythm. I’m gonna bounce back on Game 2,” he said.
“My back is good. It’s something that I had from the previous games [pain] but I feel a lot better. I’m just gonna get my rhythm going for the next games,” Lassiter added.
With the exception of June Mar Fajardo, the Beermen were not particularly sharp in Game 1 against the Hotshots.
Marcio pretty much highlighted all of San Miguel’s struggles on offense but the Beermen’s problems in the series opener ran deep.
Magnolia burned the champs with a balanced attack in Game 1 and Lassiter says they’ll have to address that as the series goes.
“Defensively we had some lapses and I felt like there were times where we should have gotten some stops and key in on some players,” he said.
“We need to do a lot better job on that the next game,” Lassiter added.
