There’s always room for improvement for Magnolia as the team looks to take down the San Miguel dynasty in the All-Filipino.

Playing a pretty strong defensive game Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals, Mark Barroca says that the Hotshots’ most important weapon could still use some polishing.

Up 81-74 with 1:34 to go, a Game 3 win looked like a lock for the Hotshots but the Magnolia defense somehow allowed eight points for the Beermen in pretty much just 16 seconds.

Magnolia had to be perfect from the line late just to make sure there was no sudden collapse.

“Nainis nga kami nung huli eh, kasi up by seven akala namin panalo na kami. Pero champion team yan eh [SMB], yung mistake ngayon dapat matutunan na for next game, di ka dapat makampante hanggang di pa nag-buzzer,” guard Mark Barroca said.

“Grabe tong team na to eh, may chance pa rin talaga sila. Kami dapat next game, kung wala pang buzzer dapat yung depensa namin nandun,” he added.

Getting that elusive second win for a 2-1 series lead, Barroca says that these Finals are far from over.

The goal for Magnolia now is to keep extending the series and see where they will end up with.

“Sabi nga namin, best-of-5. Syemrpe importante yung Game 1 nun. Wala pa, ang layo pa. Hindi naman titignan na matatapos kaagad to,” Barroca said.

“Basta kami, one game at a time lang. Tignan namin kung hanggang saan kami,” he added.
