Reavis almost matched Fajardo’s double-double and he pretty much surpassed all expectations for Game 3.
In Game 3 of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals, Rafi Reavis totally outplayed five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
Well not totally but the veteran Magnolia center sure made the San Miguel star work for his double-double.
Add the fact that Reavis almost matched Fajardo’s double-double and he pretty much surpassed all expectations for Game 3.
“Just respecting who he is. He's a great player and you just have to do you best and live with the outcome,” Reavis said of his Game 3 defense on June Mar.
The result of that was 17 points and 14 rebounds for the MVP. The keys though were June Mar’s six turnovers and only 36 percent total shooting from the field.
“Maybe, he just had an off night tonight. I don't know but you just try to do your best,” Reavis added.
Aside from playing some tough defense, Rafi also shot 57 percent for 16 points on top of 15 rebounds.
But regardless if he leads the team in scoring or posts no points at all, Reavis is more concerned with getting the win.
On Sunday, the Hotshots got that win and they now lead the All-Filipino Finals, 2-1.
“My thoughts? I dont really have any to tell you the truth. I’m just trying to do my job. I’m just trying to take what comes with it, and also hoping its a W,” he said.
“The thing with me one point, 15 points, two rebounds, or 10 rebounds, nothing, it's all the same to me. The only difference is the W and that's all I care about,” Reavis added.
