“Sana sa Linggo, wag na yung Avengers yung pumasok. Baka si Thanos nandiyan na sa loob,” Ian Sangalang.
A wild Spider-Man appearing out of nowhere late in Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals shocked everyone but Magnolia certainly was the most affected of the two teams playing.
The Hotshots were up six with about three minutes to go left in Game 5 when a stranger dressed as Spider-Man showed up and entered the court at the Araneta Coliseum Friday.
Spidey ended up hitting five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo and the game was stopped as security got the stranger out together with two others.
Once play resumed, momentum favored the Beermen and Magnolia’s 84-78 lead was gone.
San Miguel tied the game at 86 thanks to a booming Terrence Romeo triple and had the chance to take the lead in the final minute.
“Syempre na-ano din kami, nag-stop yung game. Nawala yung focus namin,” Magnolia forward Ian Sangalang said.
“Good thing na nanalo pa rin kami,” he added.
The Hotshots got a stop when they neede to and in the game’s final play, Magnolia got the win following Mark Barroca’s clutch baseline jumper as time expired.
“Siguro swerte lang kami kasi na-shoot namin yung last shot namin and kailangan namin maka-stop, nagawan namin ng paraan,” Sangalang said.
“Pag umabot ng overtime yun, medyo tagilid kami,” he added.
Magnolia’s game-winner in Game 5 is easily the play of the Philippine Cup Finals so far but everything was overshadowed by a wild Spider-Man.
Sangalang is hoping not to see any more superheroes come Game 6.
“Nagulat nga ako na nandoon si Spider-Man,” he said.
“Sana sa Linggo, wag na yung Avengers yung pumasok. Baka si Thanos nandiyan na sa loob,” Sangalang added.
