Game 5 of the PBA Finals = crazy.
You know what, let’s just go straight to a By the Numbers recap of Game 5 before moving on to Game 6 because that fifth game in these Philippine Cup Finals was crazy.
Total number of Spider-Men at the Big Dome in Game 5 Friday.
One was a self-proclaimed Spidey in San Miguel Beer forwarded Arwind Santos and another was a random man dressed in a costume that ended up causing a scene.
Oh yes, a stranger in a Spider-Man suit deciced to enter the court with three minutes to go in a crucial Game 5 and ended up hitting star center June Mar Fajardo.
An unprecedented diistraction, the man was arrested and Game 5 of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals will go down in history as one of the craziest ever.
Amazing game-winner in Game 5.
As if Friday’s game lacked enough crazy, Mark Barroca hit the shot of the series so far with a clutch baseline jumper as time expired to give Magnolia the win and a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7.
Calm in the endgame, Barroca put the Hotshots in position to end the greatest All-Filipino dynasty the PBA has ever seen.
After a sizzling show in Game 4, San Miguel only shot 29 percent in Game 5 and the Beermen offense can’t seem to get it going consistently in these Finals.
The Beermen’s worst shooting game came at the most inopportune time as well as San Miguel is now on the brink of losing its title.
San Miguel is more than capable of scoring in bunches, Game 5 saw more than a couple of those runs, but the Beermen actually have to shoot a little better in order to keep their title.
Total points for Mark Barroca again.
Barroca is carrying the Magnolia offense and is anchoring the vaunted Hotshots defense. In Game 5, he played the hero by hitting the previously-mentioned clutch jumper that won the game.
If the Hotshots end up winning the whole thing, Barroca could be adding another Finals MVP to his collection.
Total rebounds for June Mar Fajardo in the Game 5 loss.
Game 5 was so crazy Fajardo’s 20-20 game (21 points) somehow got lost in the mix.
Game 6 is Sunday at the Big Dome.
