PBA Finals: Magnolia shoots for Philippine Cup title

San Migue’s All-Filipino dynasty is on life support.

Following a crazy Game 5 Friday, Magnolia now leads the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals three games to two and the Hotshots can go for the win with Game 6 Sunday.

Mark Barroca hit the shot of the series so far two days ago, stepping in for a clutch baseline jumper as time expired, allowing Magnolia to score a pulsating 88-86 win for the series lead.

The ending was somehow similar to last year’s Governors’ Cup Finals when Paul Lee stepped in to hit the marginal basket in Game 5, allowing the Hotshots to take a 3-2 series lead over the Alaska Aces.

Magnolia won the title in six.

San Miguel hopes to avoid the same fate as the Beermen look to force a Game 7.

The Beermen have not been challenged like this in the All-Filipino since the “Beeracle” run three years ago and San Miguel’s championship resolve will be tested Sunday.

Tip off for a highly-anticipated Game 6 will be a 6:30 p.m. live from the Big Dome.
