3-0 for Blackwater in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Blackwater is still perfect.
The Elite handled another close game in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday, this time pulling away late from the Columbian Dyip for a win 118-110 at the Big Dome.
It was the third straight win for the Elite in the mid-season joust and Blackwater’s 3-0 record leads all teams so far in the conference.
“The challenge was to get this win and remind the guys that we have to take care of business from the get go. I know for a fact that Columbian, if you slack off against them, they're gonna step on you,” said head coach Aris Dimaunahan.
“Congrats to our guys for not letting that happen and working hard throughout this weekend,” he added.
It was a close game throughout and Blackwater had trouble truly breaking away from the pesky Dyip.
But with production all around, the Elite finally did pull away late to secure another strong win.
Import Alex Stepheson was a beast with 26 points, 21 rebounds, and seven blocks while no. 2 rookie Ray Parks continued to impress with 23 points.
Allein Maliksi and Mac Belo were also pivotal for Blackwater, scoring 19 apiece.
Kyle Barone and Rashawn McCarthy scored 21 and 20 points respectively for Columbian while no. 1 rookie CJ Perez added 17.
Still, that wasn’t enough for the Dyip and the team dropped to 0-3 for the conference.
