PBA: Parks after 3-0 Blackwater start: “We’re for real”
“We're for real. We're for real. That's one thing I can say, we're for real. It just goes to show the hard work that we put in. We're young, like what I said. It's a different type of Blackwater right now,” Parks said.

Sunday marked the first time 2018 top picks CJ Perez and Ray Parks Jr. faced off against each other in the PBA.

Parks, the no. 2 pick, got the last laugh this time as his Blackwater Elite maintained a perfect start in the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup by taking down Perez’s Columbian Dyip.

Ray fired 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists while Perez was good for 17 points and seven rebounds.

However, the win was the only important thing says Parks, downplaying his showdown with the no. 1 pick of last year’s Draft.

“At the end of the day, my thing is I just want to lead my team to a win,” Parks said.

“It ain't really about one person. I want the task of guarding the best player on the other team, but at the end of the day, I just gotta do my best to help my team win. I mean, at the end of the day it's still team defense, it's still team offense, so it's not just about one person,” he added.

At 3-0, the Elite have been the best surprise of the conference so far.

Blackwater has huge tests coming up with games against Phoenix and Rain or Shine but regardless of those games, Parks says they’re for real right now.

“We're for real. We're for real. That's one thing I can say, we're for real. It just goes to show the hard work that we put in. We're young, like what I said. It's a different type of Blackwater right now,” Parks said.

“It's a testament to the hard work, all the way from the coaches, to the ball boys, to us, to the management, and we're just reaping the benefits right now,” he added.
