NLEX announced that coach Yeng will be out for the next three games to “take a much-needed rest.”
One particular figure was missing in NLEX’s 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup game against Alaska Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
Head coach Yeng Guiao was absent and the Road Warriors took another beating in the mid-season joust. NLEX is now 0-3 for the conference.
The team announced that coach Yeng will be out for the next three games to “take a much-needed rest.”
Coach Yeng is just on vacation. He’s in a European cruise in fact.
“Coach Yeng is in Europe, he’s on a cruise. It’s a treat from his family to get away from the game a little bit,” assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa said, who took over the game for Guiao.
“To the things that happened to him in the last few weeks, the elections. It's just a good idea for the family and him to get away and forget about basketball for a while,” he added.
NLEX not in the most ideal situation right now with a 0-3 record overall and 0-1 without coach Yeng.
However, Guiao has full confidence in his squad and the Road Warriors vow to keep things together to make sure they have a chance when coach Yeng returns.
“Three games siyang mawawala. Sabi niya pagbalik niya, 3-0. Hindi na makukuha yung target na yun. We still have our next two games. Somehow, we have to figure out a way how to keep the games close up until the end,” Lastimosa said.
“We have enough able coaches, we have a lot of experience here. I think that's one good thing about coach Yeng – he delegates and trusts his crew. We know what he wants and he expects also the best from his guys as a staff. He gives us this opportunity to handle the team and we have take advantage of the opportunity,” he added.
