“Hopefully we can win some games and I could stay for the whole season and continue to keep playing in the PBA for ths rest of my career,” — Denzel Bowles after ROS debut.
Denzel Bowles announced his PBA return with a bang Friday, connecting on a transition slam and-one to open Rain or Shine’s campaign in the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup.
It’s Bowles first game back since his stint with the Star Hotshots in 2016. The 2017 debacle with TNT does not count.
“It was fun. I'm glad a got a highlight in the first play of the game just to welcome myself back here. I'm very thankful for the opportunity, for Rain or Shine giving me another chance because I always love playing here,” Bowles said.
“Hopefully we can win some games and I could stay for the whole season and continue to keep playing in the PBA for ths rest of my career,” he added.
Unfortunately, while Bowles got his welcome highlight, he didn’t get his welcome win as Meralco took down Rain or Shine at the MOA Arena.
Still, the former Best Import and PBA champion is confident that they can bounce back from what he says was just an off night.
“We started off pretty hot in the first half, we just didn’t pull away,” Bowles said.
“We just had an off night. We're ready to bounce back on Sunday for sure,” he added.
