Late during Phoenix’s 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup win against the Elite Friday at the MOA Arena, Abueva apparently called Parks’ girlfriend a b**** and made lewd gestures towards her.
All of this happened after Abueva fouled out lf the game but it never triggered an on-court incident. But as Parks found out about it after the game was over, he was livid and immediately went to PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial.
Marcial will have Calvin summoned to his office next week but Phoenix has acted on its own, slapping Abueva with a P20,000 fine. The money will be donated to charity.
The Fuel Masters are not denying the whole situation but the team is standing behind its top forward. In hindsight, the team says Calvin “could have practiced prudence and patience” regarding the whole incident.
