Phoenix and Ynares Antipolo might as well be RR Pogoy’s favorite opponent and venue, respectively.
In two games against the Fuel Masters this season, Pogoy has recorded incredible scoring performances.
During a Philippine Cup loss in January in Antipolo, Pogoy scored a career-high 30 against the Fuel Masters.
In the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, now a TNT win, Pogoy set a new personal best, scoring 31 points.
He also drilled eight triples, becoming only the fourth TNT player to accomplish such feat after team legends Jimmy Alapag, Larry Fonacier, and Jayson Castro.
“Anong masasabi ko? Siguro swerte ako pag dito ang laro at Phoenix ang kalaban,” Pogoy said.
“Kasi last career-high ko sila rin kalaban eh, dito din eh, siguro grace ni God talaga,” he added.
Sunday’s game against Phoenix was heated, with the first of many incidents starting less than three minutes in.
That fiery start only helped Pogoy and the rest of the KaTropa.
“Ginanahan ako nung madami nang thrown-out,” he said.
“Lalo na yung coach namin, thrown-out. Kaya ginanahan kami maglaro para sa kanila,” Pogoy added.
