PBA: Rhodes calls San Miguel return his
It was so bad that Rhodes, who won Best Import and the championship with the Beermen in 2017, called it arguably the worst defeat of his basketball career.

Charles Rhodes’ PBA return didn’t quite go according to plan.

San Miguel Beer took a 33-point beating at the hands of Northport Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

It was so bad that Rhodes, who won Best Import and the championship with the Beermen in 2017, called it arguably the worst defeat of his basketball career.

“It was just very disappointing. Like, my first game back and we get blown out like that, it's just very disappointing,” Rhodes said.

“Probably like my worst loss ever as a pro, it has to be,” he added.

The 33-point loss was an early wake-up call for the Beermen.

San Miguel played its first game roughly two weeks after winning the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup in seven games against Magnolia.

The Beermen are understandably tired, but it certainly no excuse says Charles.

“We're professionals, so I'm pretty sure we’re gonna come out next game and play harder. I think this is just a slap in everybody's face that we gotta do better in practice and in the game and just be into it more,” he said.

“I don’t make excuses but they already played like four games and we didnt have our legs. There's no need to panic. But we gotta do better than that. We gotta have more pride than that. We're the San Miguel Beermen so we gotta be better than that,” Rhodes added.
