PBA: Manuel has that “Allan Caidic thing” says Compton
Alaska head coach Alex Compton is not at all surprised that Manuel is already producing for his team, he says Vic is one of the few people that just has “it.”

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — Vic Manuel has played a total of two PBA games in like six months but it doesn’t seem like he never missed a beat.

Manuel made his season debut in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup against Magnolia, scoring six points in nine minutes.

Sunday at the Ynares Center here, Manuel played 24 and a half minutes against Meralco, putting 17 points on the board in a close win.

Alaska head coach Alex Compton is not at all surprised that Manuel is already producing for his team, he says Vic is one of the few people that just has “it.”

“I think I was talking to you guys, I don't know if it was the NLEX game. But there's a certain thing that certain people have,” Compton said of Manuel.

“And I never had it as a player, but it's that Allan Caidic thing, where you don't touch a ball for a long time, and you walk in, and you're the best player in the gym,” he added.

Following a long recovery, Manuel is supposed to be on minutes restriction for Alaska.

However, the Aces had to extend Manuel’s playing time against the Bolts and it certainly helped as Alaska got its third straight win in the Commissioner’s Cup for a 4-2 record.

“You know, Vic, 24 minutes, 17 points. I mean, any coach in the league, your best offensive threats, it helps you when they can play so it's really nice to have him back,” Compton said.

“I don't think we win this game without him. So what he gives us on offense is rare, he's just a unique player,” he added.
