NLEX finally gets a win as immediate help has arrived in Jericho Cruz.
Right now, it seems like there’s no road to success for NLEX in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Road Warriors are free-falling in the mid-season joust, stuck in last place with a 0-5 mark.
Fortunately, the team gets a win as immediate help has arrived in Jericho Cruz.
The Road Warriors saved Cruz in limbo after acquiring the scoring guard in a three-team trade with TNT and Northport.
NLEX basically let go of forward Marion Magat to get the deal done.
In Cruz, the Road Warriors get a backcourt boost as the team is still without Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas.
“Definitely, Jericho will help,” said top assistant Jojo Lastimosa after one of NLEX’s losses in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Jolas took over the team after head coach Yeng Guiao took a mini break from basketball. Guiao should be already present at the sidelines when Cruz debuts for NLEX.
“Obviously, kailangan namin ng veteran presence and firepower and makakatulong [Cruz’s arrival],” Jolas added.
Cruz’s arrival helps but will not solve all of NLEX’s problems.
The Road Warriors still have some work to do in order to recover from a nightmare 0-5 start.
“Sa klase ng team namin, hindi kaya ng import na mag-isa ngayon, sa liga na ito? Hindi kaya ng import,” Lastimosa said.
“Kailangan palagi may tulong ng mga locals and you could see that,” he added.
