PBA: Beermen make it rain to get first win of Comm’s Cup
Winless after two games, San Miguel now improves to 1-2 in the team standings following a strong effort against the Elite.

San Miguel finally gets things going in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Beermen scored their first wiin of the mid-season joust Friday, pounding on the undermanned Blackwater Elite at the MOA Arena, 127-106.

Winless after two games, San Miguel now improves to 1-2 in the team standings following a strong effort against the Elite.

“This is a good pabaon for us going to the game against Ginebra,” head coach Leo Austria said.

“Before this game, we talked about winning. Fortunately for us, wala silang import, but sabi ko nga, kahit ano pa yan, basta panalo yan, tatanggapin namin nang maluwag,” he added.

Blackwater went All-Filipino as imporpt Alex Stepheson had to go back to the States to have a developing stomach ailment checked out.

Still, the Elite gave the Beermen a fight especially in the fourth, cutting a once 20-point lead down to single digits.

San Miguel recovered though as Lassiter’s explosive shooting allowed the Beermen to truly pull away.

Import Charles Rhodes led San Miguel with 32 points and 19 rebounds

Lassiter drilled seven triples in the fourth to finish with 29 points. Alex Cabagnot added another 19 for the Beermen.

Rookie Ray Parks led the Elite with 23 points but Blackwater lost its grip of first place as they go down to 5-2 for the conference.

San Miguel 127 - Rhodes 32, Lassiter 29, Cabagnot 19, Fajardo 12, Pessumal 12, Rosser 7, Zamar 8, Ross 6, Standhardinger 2. 

Blackwater 106 - Parks 23, Digregorio 18, Sumang 17, Al-Hussaini 11, Maliksi 11, Javier 6, Sena 5, Tratter 5, Cortez 4, Belo 2, Banal 2, Alolino 2, Jose 0, Desiderio 0.

Quarters:  29-21, 62-47, 90-74, 127-106.
