TNT landed a huge haymaker to knock down the defending champs Wednesday.
RR Pogoy and Terrence Jones starred for the KaTropa and TNT took down the Gin Kings Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, scoring a 104-96 win at the Big Dome.
Pogoy lit up Ginebra for 10 triples and scored a career-high 38 points. The former Rookie of the Year went nuclear in the fourth, helping TNT erase a 10-point second half deficit for the victory.
Jones was also impressive, bucking a slow start to end up with 17 points. The former Houston Rocket also had 14 rebounds, 16 assists, and six blocks for a nice all-around effort.
After the Gin Kings took control in the third, the KaTropa turned to Jones and Pogoy for a game-changing blitz in the fourth to seal the win.
Pogoy fired 16 of his points in the final quarter to bury the defending champs to a 2-3 effort. TNT improved to 5-1 with a third straight victory, which is good for a share of first place.
After Pogoy and Jones, lead guard Jayson Castro also had a big game, firing 17 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Ginebra got 29 points and 17 rebounds from super import Justin Brownlee but another one of his big games went to waste with this disappointing loss.
LA Tenorio added 17 points and eight assists for the Gin Kings.
