PBA: Mercado leaves Ginebra with a heavy heart
After finding a home in Ginebra as a beloved Gin King, Sol leaves the barangay with a heavy heart.

Ginebra gets a new star guard and Northport gets to reunite two Growling Tigers with their old head coach.

Sol Mercado gets to be a player that deals with the business of the game.

Mercado has been dealt to Northport Tuesday as part of the three-player package that allowed Ginebra to land Stanley Pringle from the Batang Pier.

After finding a home in Ginebra as a beloved Gin King, Sol leaves the barangay with a heavy heart.

“I’m going through a truck load of emotions right now,” Sol wrote in a message posted on his social media accounts.

“Thank you for these past four years, I can honestlhy say it’s been the best years of my career,” he added.

With Ginebra, Mercado won his first-ever championship in 2016.

The former no. 5 pick then won a second and third titles with the Gin Kings in 2017 and 2018.
