An exciting game by Northport and Columbian Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup had a rather anti-climatic ending.
Tied at 108 with seven seconds to go, the Batang Pier went to Robert Bolick for the game-winning layup.
The no. 3 pick of the 2018 Draft missed. Still, Northport took the lead after it was decided that Columbian import Lester Prosper committed a goaltending violation.
Upon review, Prosper touched the rim as he was trying to block Bolick’s shot.
“Syempre kung sa akin gusto ko shoot talaga,” Bolick said.
“Pero yun nga tinamaan yung ring, wala na ako magagawa dun,” he added.
The win got Northport to 8-2 for the Commissioner’s Cup.
One more win by the Batang Pier or a loss by Magnolia will have Northport in the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat edge. Bolick and company will go after that playoff bonus that’s for sure.
“Talagang gusto namin kunin yun,” Bolick said of the twice-to-beat.
“Sabi nga, we have to start winning. Kasi pag nanalo yun, yun na yung winning culture eh. Kasi pag nararamdaman namin na talo, ang sama. We have to keep working,” he added.
