PBA: Northport escapes Columbian after late goaltend
The win allowed the Batang Pier to close in on a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals with an 8-2 mark.

What a way to escape on the part of Northport.

The Batang Pier survived Columbian Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, scoring a close 110-108 win at the Big Dome.

After top rookie CJ Perez tied the game at 108 with a putback, the Batang Pier had 7.8 seconds to work with for a game winner.

Northport turned to its own top rookie in Robert Bolick who drove strong to the basket for a lay-up. He narrowly missed but Columbian import Lester Prosper touched the rim first for a goaltending violation.

The win allowed the Batang Pier to close in on a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals with an 8-2 mark.
