PBA: What’s wrong with Rain or Shine?
The Elasto Painters are still a force with their dept and strong import. However, the team can’t close out tight games and consistency has been a problem throughout.

Safe to say, Rain or Shine’s problems in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup do not come from import Denzel Bowles.

Bowles, a former PBA champion and Best Import, has been producing for the Elasto Painters in the mid-season joust, going for 30.9 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

However, his locals can’t seem to get it going all conference long, which should be a little frustrating for all parties considering ROS was pretty sharp in the All-Filipino.

Against TNT Wednesday, the Elasto Painters were down by 25 early in the second half, recovered to make it a game by the fourth quarter, only to falter in the end and lose by 21.

“We were able to come back from 25 points. Dapat hindi kami umabot doon sa point na lumalaki ang lamang,” head coach Caloy Garcia said.

“He’s [Bowles] trying to get the locals involved but they can’t make their shots. I feel how he feels. It’s the same thing, it’s also frustrating on my side,” he added.

It’s not like ROS has suddenly turned into a bad team overnight.

The Elasto Painters are still a force with their dept and strong import. However, the team can’t close out tight games and consistency has been a problem throughout.

It also doesn’t help that they all can’t seem to make shots. The team shot 33 percent in the loss to TNT.

“There’s nothing wrong with what we run,” Garcia said.

“It’s just that they’re not making their shots I think we just have to shoot more in practice,” he added.
