PBA: ROS holds breath as Bowles goes down with knee injury
The Elasto Painters lost Denzel Bowles due to an apparent injury and the former Best Import and champion was taken to the hospital by halftime.

Rain or Shine got a much-needed win Saturday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup but the team paid a rather steep price.

The Elasto Painters lost Denzel Bowles due to an apparent injury and the former Best Import and champion was taken to the hospital by halftime.

It doesn’t look or sound good for ROS and Bowles.

“Halftime pa lang dinala na siya sa hospital because he felt that something cracked in his knee. Most probably he’ll be out,” head coach Caloy Garcia said.

“Sayang eh. In yesterday’s practice, it was the first time that he really talked to everybody. He’s a very silent type but you can feel him yesterday, medyo malakas yung boses niya that he feels that we’re a good team and he asked the locals to play the way they did in the All-Filipino and he’s here to help us all the way,” he added.

Bowles was even playing well to start Saturday’s game for ROS, leading the team against Alaska as per usual.

Before he went down with the knee injury, Denzel had 16 points in 18 minutes. ROS will now wait if Bowles can come back to finish the season.

“You see how he started the game, he had 16 points before he got injured. He really wanted to win,” Garcia said.

“It was a huge win for us and also a big loss, because we don’t know the status of Denzel right now,” he added.
