“I definitely appreciate it but man, that’s a bad man [MJ] to be compared to. I just really appreciate it and take the compliment,” — Justin Brownlee.
Justin Brownlee was so in the zone Sunday for Manila Clasico that head coach Tim Cone went ahead and compared his super import to Michael Jordan himself.
Yep, Coach Tim went the GOAT route.
Sure enough, Browlee supplied a Jordanesque performance in leading Ginebra to victory, firing a career-high 49 points on 75 percent shooting from the field
The league’s reigning Best Import also added 20 rebounds and seven assists just to make sure.
“Oh man, that’s a great compliment and comparison,” Brownlee said of Cone’s MJ comment.
“I definitely appreciate it but man, that’s a bad man [MJ] to be compared to. I just really appreciate it and take the compliment,” he added.
Brownlee certainly wasn’t trying to be like Mike against Magnolia Sunday, he was just trying to be aggressive enough to help his Gin Kings get a crucial win.
In doing so he did play much like Jordan for his team and there’s really nothing wrong with that.
“I know it's a big game for us, its a great opportunity for us to clinch a spot in the playoffs and just try to defend our crown,” Brownlee said.
“So we just wanted to come out and be aggressive and just whatever it takes to win this game,” he added.
