PBA: Bowles to Montgomery: “Just play free”
Two days before ROS took on Magnolia for a crucial game in the mid-season joust, the Elasto Painters got Carl Montgomery as import.

After an unfortunate knee injury to Denzel Bowles last week, Rain or Shine had to scramble for a replacement import in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Two days before ROS took on Magnolia for a crucial game in the mid-season joust, the Elasto Painters got Carl Montgomery as import.

He did well enough against the Hotshots, scoring 20 points on top of 12 rebounds and four assists, to help ROS pick up the win.

“It’s a very physical game. I felt like I played to the best of my abilities and my team picked me up,” Montgomery said.

“I wasn’t doing so well in the fourth quarter and they picked me up and we were able to get the win, a much-needed win,” he added.

The injured Bowles was on deck Wednesday at the Big Dome and Montgomery said that Denzel had some choice words for him before his first outing.

“Yeah, Denzel just told me to play my game and play free,” Montgomery said.

“[He told me] don’t think too much because it’s my first game, just give as much effort as I can on both ends,” Montgomery added.
