With a 4-7 mark, the Fuel Masters are not eliminated just yet but they’ll need some luck just to have a chance of making it to the next round.
Ending the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup with three straight losses, Phoenix will need some help to make the playoffs.
With a 4-7 mark, the Fuel Masters are not eliminated just yet, but they’ll need some luck just to have a chance of making it to the next round.
Well they did have their chances, three games actually, and they lost all of them.
“We have to do lots of prayers. It is what it is, wala na tayo magagawa dun,” head coach Louie Alas said.
“Knockout [best-case scenario]. Pero ganun pa rin, kailangan pa rin namin manalo,” he added.
After winning a number of close games in the All-Filipino on their way to the number 1 seed, the Fuel Masters dropped all the tight contests in the Commissioner’s Cup.
In two of their last three losses, Phoenix lost by a basket. They could have been easily 6-5 with an automatic slot to the playoffs right now.
“Naubos eh [close games]. When I was suspended, close games yun. Columbian close game. This one [vs. NLEX] is close game,” Alas said.
“Hopefully, just in case di kami pumasok, mabawi namin sa Governors’ Cup,” he added.
