PBA: Banchero says job’s not done even as Alaska drops TNT
“It was a big game for us but you know, first thing that coach said is the game’s over. We have a knockout game here on Wednesday and they’re gonna play a lot better than they did tonight,” Banchero said.

After surviving Meralco in overtime to sneak into the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, guard Chris Banchero was hopeful that that big win can lead to a breakthrough for Alaska.

They kind of needed it especially since the Aces were on a collission course against no. 1 TNT in the quarterfinals and the KaTropa have been running amok this conference, winning eight straight games for a 10-1 record.

Sunday at the Big Dome, Banchero got that breakthrough performance from his Aces as Alaska smashed TNT by 36 points, forcing a one-game knockout for the PBA semifinals.

“I thought we came out aggressive, I thought we played well from start to finish,” he said.

“Our defense tonight was fantastic. Everybody who had a chance on Terrence Jones tonight did a great job. That was the plan, to stay in the gaps and make other players beat us. We did a great job,” Banchero added.

Despite scoring a sensational knockdown, Alaska knows the job is far from over.

They still have to knock out the KaTropa and that’s easier said than done. The last time TNT lost in this conference, a 26-point beatdown at the hands of eventual no. 2 Northport, the KaTropa won eight straight games without hardly breaking a sweat.

“It was a big game for us but you know, first thing that coach said is the game’s over. We have a knockout game here on Wednesday and they’re gonna play a lot better than they did tonight,” Banchero said.

“They’re gonna make adjustments so we need to make our own adjustments as well. The’re gonna come out a lot more aggressive and they’re a number 1 seed for a reason. We need to be prepared for what they got,” he added.
