“We know na kami yung underdog but we’ll try to play hard,” — Chito Victolero.
Magnolia had defending champion Ginebra right where they wanted to in Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.
Manila Clasico Game 1 was a close game and the Hotshots were in prime position to put the champs on the ropes.
But as Magnolia went for a haymaker, the Hotshots wildly missed and Ginebra pulled ahead in the short best-of-3 series, 1-0.
“That’s what we want, a close game, so we can have hance in the end,” head coach Chito Victolero said.
“Yun yung pinaka-goal namin, so we have a chance,” he added.
As the Hotshots now face elimination in Game 2 of the series, the team is taking things slow.
Magnolia knows what it wants to do and is in no rush. Being too eager against Ginebra usually backfires anyway.
“We’ll just take it one game at a time,” Victolero said.
“We know na kami yung underdog but we’ll try to play hard,” he added.
