PBA: Blackwater ready for its playoff breakthrough
With the series tied at one game each, Blackwater needs a decisive Game 3 win Thursday to make the PBA semifinals for the first time in franchise history.

Blackwater is on the verge of a breakthrough.

The third-ranked Elite fought off elimination against Rain or Shine in Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.

With the series tied at one game each, Blackwater needs a decisive Game 3 win Thursday to make the PBA semifinals for the first time in franchise history.

The Elite badly want that semifinals appearance.

“Gustung-gusto ko talaga maka-abot man lang sa semis,” said forward Mac Belo.

Belo, Blackwater’s top pick in the Gilas draft three years ago, was one of the first key pieces to be put in for this current Elite squad.

“Ma-feel ko man lang yung best-of-5 na series. Yun yung pinagta-trabahuhan namin ngayon. Gustom kami eh, kailangan lang namin mag-focus sa Game 3,” Belo added.

Despite one of the youngest units in the PBA, Blackwater has put together a dream conference, rising to the chart and making the playoffs as the no. 3 team.

While playoff experience is minimal, the Elite are ready to fight for their semis slot and establish themselves as a true PBA contender.

“Excited kami kasi minsan lang naman kami maka-pasok sa playoffs,” Belo said.

“Hindi na namin sasayangin itong mga ganitong opportunity, minsan lang kami nabibigyan ng ganitong chance,” he added.
