Brownlee bothered by Jones’ defense in 1-point 4th quarter
Brownlee, the league’s reigning Best Import, was essentially shut down in the fourth quarter of the series opener, scoring only one point in the final period.

Late in Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals between TNT and Ginebra, Terrence Jones picked up Justin Brownlee in defense, matching up both imports one-on-one.

It was a great move on the part of the KaTropa and one that defintely caught Brownlee by surprise.

Brownlee, the league’s reigning Best Import, was essentially shut down in the fourth quarter of the series opener, scoring only one point in the  final period.

He had 22 through three quarters.

“We didn’t expect that and I didn’t either. But like I said, he did a really good job. I didn’t expect that and just got to give a lot of credit to him,” Brownlee said of Jones’ defense.

“Just got to give a lot of credit to Talk ‘N Text, I think they did a really good job, especially Jones. He came out and defended me very well. I think we could do a better job getting a better offensive rhythm. Just tip my hat to them,” he added.

Now down one game in the semifinals, Brownlee says it’s time for the Gin Kings to turn the ball over less.

Ginebra was up 10 in the second half and ended up losing all of it in the third quarter.

They only had one turnover in the third when they took a 10-point lead and had six when the collapsed in the fourth. Ginebra finished with 19 turnovers to TNT’s 18.

“I think turnovers, for sure, hurt us. We got out to a lead and I think we got a good rhythm and I know I made some turnovers,” Brownlee said.

“Just really turnovers, keep the turnovers down and just try to really move the ball and focus on everybody getting involved,” he added.
