In back-to-back playoff wins against Alaska and defending champion Ginebra, the KaTropa had to erase double-digit deficits and deliver two strong fourth-quarter efforts to take the win.
After breezing through the elimination round, beating opponents by an average of 15 points, TNT is getting tested in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
In back-to-back wins against Alaska and defending champion Ginebra, the KaTropa had to erase double-digit deficits and deliver two strong fourth-quarter efforts to take the win.
In the latest victory against the Gin Kings, TNT has taken a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 semis.
“Yun yung gusto namin,” forward Troy Rosario said of the two games where they had to make a second-half comeback.
“Nung elimination, parang nasanay kami na first half pa lang blowout na agad tapos tuluy-tuloy na. Ngayon yng tunay na test kasi playoffs na eh,” he added.
It seems a little risky for TNT to undergo such a critical test late in the tournament.
But after an initial dud against the Aces, the KaTropa are back to their winning ways.
In particular, Rosario has been shining for TNT. Against the Gin Kings, Troy was brilliant once again, scoring 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two assists.
“Risky pero dun mo talaga mate-test kung saan made of yung team eh,” Rosario said.
“Kailangan din namin mag-adjust kasi alam namin buong eliminations freel nakaka-score si Terrence [Jones]. Kailangan namin mag-contribute [as locals],” he added.
