PBA: Arwind downplays McCullough scolding in Game 1 win

In Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine, Chris McCullough admitted to pretty much trash talking his own teammates in an effort to pump them up.

That came in the third quarter when the Beermen gave up series of offensive rebounds to Rain or Shine and the Elasto Painters cashed in with a Carl Montgomery dunk.

San Miguel Beer called timeout and McCullough went off on his teammates.

It was a tense scene but things ended on a good note as the Beermen turned things around and won Game 1, 111-105.

Forward Arwind Santos downplayed the whole thing, saying it was normal especially in a close playoff game.

“Nagka-sagutan lang ng konti,” Santos said.

“Normal naman yun sa isang team,” he added.

Arwind says that McCullough actually did the right thing in that moment.

After their import went off on them, the Beermen woke up and started playing better, eventually leading to a series-opening victory.
