“Basta mentality namin, one game at a time. As long as gawin namin trabaho namin, sundin namin game plan namin, kung ano man yung result okay kami dun. Basta bigay namin best namin vs. Ginebra,” — Jayson Castro.
With no less than Jayson Castro at the lead, top-ranked TNT has put defending champion Brgy. Ginebra on the ropes in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.
With another sensational win Sunday, the KaTropa now lead the best-of-five series, 2-0, and they go for a sweep Tuesday at the MOA Arena.
However, before anyone gets too carried away, Castro says that a return trip to the Finals is not yet in their minds. The focus is Game 3 on its own and how they can once again play their best basketball there.
“As of now, di naman namin iniisip na sweep,” Castro said.
“Basta mentality namin, one game at a time. As long as gawin namin trabaho namin, sundin namin game plan namin, kung ano man yung result okay kami dun. Basta bigay namin best namin vs. Ginebra,” he added.
In Sunday’s Game 2 domination, Castro was a steady force for the KaTropa, leading the team in scoring with 20 on top of four rebounds, five assists, and just one turnover in 43 and a half minutes.
The Blur was running the TNT offense that connected on 16 triples to completely overwhelm the Gin Kings.
Six players made a bucket from deep for TNT, led by RR Pogoy with six treys and Castro with four triples.
“Sana tuluy-tuloy, yun naman binibigay nila di ba? Samin naman, kung ano yung open shot para samin, yun lang din yung ginagawa namin. Wide open shot so bakit hindi namin itira?” Castro said.
“At the same time, yung confidence naman ng team sa isa’t-isa nandoon, we play for each other. Kahit sino nandoon, may confidence naman na tumira,” he added.
