ROS lost a 13-point lead in Game 1 and a 29-point lead in Game 2 against San Miguel. In Game 3, the lost an 18-point lead but managed to finally win this time.
In Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against San Miguel, Rain or Shine led by 13 points early. The Elasto Painters lost.
In Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against San Miguel, Rain or Shine led by 29 points early. The Elasto Painters lost.
In Game 3 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against San Miguel, Rain or Shine led by 18 points early. The Elasto Painters learned their lesson and finally pulled one back this time.
“Wala na, natuto na. Dalawang laro enough na yun,” forward Beau Belga said.
“Ngayon, gusto lang ni Coach Caloy na maging pisikal kami para ma-challenge sila samin. Pinanidigan namin, yun lang kaibahan ng laro ngayon. Hopefully the next game, ganun ulit,” he added.
While ROS still ended up losing all of its 18 point lead by halftime, one key difference in Game 3 is the fact that the Elasto Painters were more steady after the initial SMB storm.
Rain or Shine had 15 turnovers in the first half of Game 3 but turned around to only commit two in the second half. That helped tremendously as the Elasto Painters regained their bearings to stay in this best-of-5 series.
“First half kinse [TOs], sabi ko sa mga kasama ko pang-isang laro na yan,” Belga said.
“Nung second half, medyo nag-relax kami, dalawang turnover na lang. Medyo naging maganda na. Limit the turnovers and play physical ulit [for Game 4],” he added.
