RR Pogoy knows team basketball and also makes sure to stay on top of current sports events, even those that doesn’t feature his own team.
After the KaTropa ended Ginebra’s title reign with a Game 4 win in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals on Thursday, Pogoy remembered something that Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga talked about the night prior.
“Sabi nga ni Beau, ano sabi ni Beau kahapon? Di kaya ng isang tao lang,” Pogoy said.
RR was talking about Belga’s comments about Chris McCullough’s 51-point explosion for San Miguel in Game 3 of their own series.
McCullough did his thing but the rest of the Beermen pretty much struggled. ROS won.
In Game 4 against Ginebra, the KaTropa got contributions from everyone led by import Terrence Jones who posted another triple-double.
Troy Rosario and Jayson Castro both scored at least 20 points while Pogoy himself scored all of his 14 points in a crucial third-quarter run for TNT.
“Malaking tulong yun kasi hindi lang isa,” Pogoy said.
“Ang hirap bantayan kung lahat umi-score,” he added.
As TNT makes a return trip to the Finals, the first time in two years, Pogoy wants the title they missed out on with a six-game loss to San Miguel in 2017.
“Sana maka-bawi kami ngayon. Sana maka-bawi kahit sino naman [kalaban],” Pogoy said.
