“Yun yung challenge ko rin sa sarili ko. Syempre nandoon na ako sa point na parang patapos na ang perak ko so ito na yung time para manalo ng championship talaga,” — Jayson Castro (Photo by Richard Esguerra).
TNT is no longer the dominant force it once was earlier in this decade and so the team’s Finals appearance have become bigger deals than usual.
After dethroning Ginebra in Game 4 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals, the KaTropa are back to the championship round
It’s been so long that top star Jayson Castro actually forgot about the last time. He just knows they lost the previous Finals.
“Sobrang saya,” Castro said as TNT booked a Finals return.
“Di ko na maalala kailan yung last namin. Sana this time, makuha na namin kasi last na nag-Finals kami short na naman. This time sana. Pero syempre alam naman natin yung sa kabilang series parehong top teams din,” he added

For the record, the last time TNT made the Finals was in the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup where they lost to San Miguel Beer in six games.
The Beermen are in the other bracket and if the complete as series win, it will be Finals rematch two years in the making vs. TNT.
Before that 2017 appearance, the KaTropa’s last Finals stint was in the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup against Rain or Shine where they beat the Elasto Painters in seven games.
That is TNT’s most recent championship. ROS is in the other bracket as well and if they complete a semis comeback, it’s a remath four years in the making against the KaTropa.
Whoever they face however, Castro wants a title bad.
The Blur is nearer to the end of his career than the beginning and he wants to make the most out of his peak by adding to his currently six championships.
“Yun yung challenge ko rin sa sarili ko. Syempre nandoon na ako sa point na parang patapos na ang perak ko so ito na yung time para manalo ng championship talaga,” Castro said.
“Sobrang tagal na namin di nagcha-champion. At the same time, yung mga bago kailangan din nila i-prove yung sarili nila. Yung TNT gusto namin maka-balik sa kung ano kami dati,” the Blur added.
