TNT is off to a rousing start in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals against San Miguel Beer following a dominant Game 1 win Sunday.
However, the KaTropa were also up 1-0 on the Beermen two years ago in the same Finals and they ended up losing the title in six games.
This early lead means nothing for TNT.
“Syempre every series naman iba-iba. So tinitignan namin as one game at a time,” guard Jayson Castro said.
“Ayaw namin na parang mag-expect kaagad,” he added.
As the series moves on, Castro says it’s crucial for TNT to maintain its composure against the Beermen.
The KaTropa connected on a huge run in the early goings of Game 1 and never let go but they know that San Miguel is certainly for than capable of turning things around pretty quickly.
For TNT to win this title, the team will have to check the Beermen everytime they try to make a run of their own.
“During that time parang na-control namin yung game and di kami na-rattle. Unlike before, pag humahabol na sila, nara-rattle kami. Isa lang nire-remind ko sa mga teammate ko, yung composure namin against San Miguel dapat nandoon talaga,” Castro said.
“Anytime kaya mag-explode nung team na yun eh. Buti na lang, na-keep namin composure namin and na-protect namin lead namin at na-execute namin mga plays namin,” he added.
