Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals goes to TNT.
The top-ranked KaTropa wasted little time in making their presence felt Sunday, dominating the Beermen for a 109-96 win at the Big Dome.
Down 17-19, Terrence Jones scored on a vicious slam dunk that ignited a huge 18-0 run for the KaTropa.
TNT would never look back after that and would roll to a convincing win and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Jones, the leading contender for the Best Import award, scored 16 in the first quarter on his way to a total of 41 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and three blocks.
Jayson Castro, the leading contender for the Best Player of the Conference award, was the top local for TNT with 20 points.
San Miguel got 33 points from Chris McCullough and another 23 from June Mar Fajardo but after falling behind in the opening period, the Beermen never truly got close to make the KaTropa nervous.
Game 2 is set for Wednesday also at the Big Dome.
