Jayson Castro now stands alone among all of the great guards in the history of the PBA.
The TNT playmaker was recognized as the Best Player of the Conference for the fifth time, Sunday at Araneta Coliseum.
That latest recognition tied him with Danny Ildefonso for second most behind June Mar Fajardo who has already totaled eight.
Among guards, however, Castro is at the head of the pack.
And even more impressive, he won his latest one at 33-years young.
"Sobrang maraming-maraming salamat sa mga nag-vote sa akin. Sobrang na-appreciate ko yun," he said. "Sa age kong 'to, nakakuha pa ako ng award na ganun. At least, nakikita niyo pa yung hard work ko."
Castro has posted per game counts of 14.7 points, 6.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 steals through the KaTropa's championship run.
He was also quick to say, however, that while he is nothing but glad with his newest Best Player of the Conference trophy, he remains focused on the grandest prize. As he put it, "Siyempre, masaya ako, pero siyempre, number one goal din namin is makuha yung championship kasi ang tagal na rin naming 'di nagcha-champion."
"The Blur" and company, though, now find themselves all even with San Miguel, 2-2, in the best-of-seven championship round.
They try to get back on track in the series on Wednesday still at the same venue.
