TNT is back as a league powerhouse and Jayson Castro is back as a legitimate MVP candidate.
The Blur was named as the 2019 PBA Gatorade Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Sunday, beating out MVP June Mar Fajardo and the top three picks of the previous Draft in Ray Parks, CJ Perez, and Robert Bolick.
Casto got his first BPC in three years or since the 2016 Governors’ Cup.
Similar to that conference, Castro had TNT as the no. 1 seed with a 10-1 record but unlike that conference, the KaTropa have advanced to the championship round in the Commissioner’s Cup.
TNT also leads the Finals against San Miguel Beer, 2-1.
Castro was actually quieter than usual this conference but his production still has incredible impact for TNT.
Through the semifinals, the Blur went for 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.6 steals.
In winning this BPC, Castro now has five overall and has tied Danny Ildefonso for second place for most all-time. Only June Mar Fajardo has more with eight BPCs.
Castro also padded his lead among all PBA guards in history with five BPCs.
