On Sunday, TNT’s Terrence Jones became the first KaTropa in five years to win Best Import.
Also Sunday, Jones, together with Jayson Castro, became the first teammates in two years to sweep Best Import and Best Player of the Conference in the same tournament.
Jones has clicked with the rest of the KaTropa in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and the results have been undeniable.
A number 1 ranking in the eliminations, a pair of individual awards, and still two wins away from the championship as TNT is locked in a 2-2 tie with San Miguel in the Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“Man, I just wanna thank all my teammates. Without them, it wouldn't be possible,” Jones said of his Best Import trophy.
“My family, who I'm doing this for, the coaching staff, the whole organization for giving me this opportunity. It's a blessing,” he added.
Jones is especially happy to win the Commissioner’s Cup top awards with Castro.
The two were the first teammates since Chris Ross and Charles Rhodes in 2017 to win Best Import and BPC in the same conference.
Jones says everything’s been a product of some incredibly hard work put in practice in preparation for TNT’s current golden chance at a title.
As it stands, the two, and the rest of the KaTropa, have one more trophy to win.
“I'm just happy that I was able to receive that award, and also happy that my teammate, Jay Castro, got to win an award as well. We've really worked hard as a team to put ourselves in the position to have the No. 1 seed, and just build chemistry and believe in one another from Day 1,” Jones said.
“So it was just a great opportunity to reach all the achievements, and we still got one more to go,” he added.
