It's a lesson learned sa amin, lalo na sa mga guys and sa mga young guys at sa mga veterans. Marami kaming natutunan sa series na 'to -- Jayson Castro (Arvin Lim)
TNT’s Game 5 loss proved to be the beginning of the end for the KaTropa’s campaign in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
If only TNT held on to its 16-point lead, the complexion of the series would’ve been in the KaTropa’s favor.
“We shouldn’t have let Game 5 go,” said TNT import Terrence Jones.
The missed of opportunity to control the best-of-seven series in the pivotal game last Wednesday haunted the KaTropa in Game 6 as they yielded the series, 90-102, Friday night at the Big Dome.
“I think that was a big turnaround for the series,” added the Best Import winner. “Being up 16 points we should’ve took care of that but we didn’t. “I think that gave them more confidence that they took today and just carried over.”
With the series then tied 2-2, TNT went up, 83-67, in Game 5 but then Beermen rallied with a scintillating blitz that stunned the KaTropa.
SMB went on to steal the game, 99-94, to move within a win from its 27th title overall.
“Ah, siguro ganoon talaga. May mga breaks of the game na yun nga di natin na-control yun mga games na control namin,” said the Best Player of the Conference Jayson Castro, who fouled out late in the fourth quarter of the series clincher. “May mga games na panalo na kami, pero sayang talo.”
SMB carried the momentum into Game 6 as the Beermen created a 63-44 separation in the third period before holding on to annex their second crown of the season.
“It's a lesson learned sa amin, lalo na sa mga guys and sa mga young guys at sa mga veterans. Marami kaming natutunan sa series na to,” said Castro.
It’s back to the drawing board for TNT as they prepare for the season-ending Governors’ Cup next month.
“It's a good conference pa rin sa amin, yun nga lang nag-short. Yung gusto namin, yung goal namin na maka-champion, hindi namin nakuha,” added Castro. “So hopefully next conference or sa mga darating pang conference makarapasok kami ulit and dadalhin namin ang experience.”
