PBA: BWE taps Marqus Blakely to replace injured Aaron Fuller
Blakely, who came in as a late replacement for TNT KaTropa in the same conference last season, will debut for Blackwater in the East Asia Super League's Terrific 12 tournament in Macau set for Sept. 17-22.

Blackwater is not taking any chances in its preparations for the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup.

The Elite were supposed to go with former NLEX import Aaron Fuller as reinforcement for the season-ending conference.

However, Fuller was once again bitten by the injury bug and is suffering from a sprained ankle. The development prompted the Elite to tap former Best Import and two-time champion Marqus Blakely as replacement.

Blackwater team manager Patrick Aquino confirmed the move to ABS-CBN Sports.

Blakely, who came in as a late replacement for TNT KaTropa in the same conference last season, will debut for Blackwater in the East Asia Super League's Terrific 12 tournament in Macau set for Sept. 17-22.

In Macau, Blakely will team up with import Alex Stepheson to power Blackwater's return to EASL play. The team is also eyeing Blakely as import for the Governors' Cup.

"Still checking if TNT has the rights pa," Aquino said in a message to ABS-CBN Sports.

Blakely, who helped complete San Mig Coffee's Grand Slam five years ago, averaged 23.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks for TNT last season.

Unfortunately, his presence wasn't enough to carry the KaTropa to the playoffs of the Governors' Cup. Blakely last played in the B.League with Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka.
