NLEX takes over solo lead in the PBA for the moment.
The Road Warriors cut the power off Meralco for a 105-99 win Friday at the Big Dome, becoming the first team to two wins in the 2019 Governors’ Cup.
Despite losing a 20-point lead, NLEX got key breaks in the end to preserve the win.
Up by four, 100-96, Kiefer Ravena found Jericho Cruz for a crucial lay-up inside the final minute. NLEX then got another two points after Raymond Almazan was called for a goaltending violation.
The Road Warriors are 2-0 to start, solo first as of press time.
JR Quinahan’s 19 points and Kiefer Ravena’s 15 led the NLEX offense. Both came off the bench. Import Olu Ashaolu was the high man in a starting role with 17 points.
For Meralco, Allen Durham put up 32 points and 19 rebounds while Almazan was good for 17. The Bolts dropped to 1-1.
