Confidence goes a long way for Baser Amer.

Getting a decent start to Friday’s game against Alaska, Amer rode the initial momentum for a game-high 27 points, built around six triples, in Meralco’s bounce back win over the Aces.

Scoring 10 points in the first half, Baser exploded for 14 points in the third as a follow up, leading Meralco’s charge for the victory.

“Good start lang ako nung first half do nakuha ko kumpiyansa ko,” Amer said.

“Swerte lang,” he added of his six treys. “Tsaka libre lang din eh.”

With the win, Meralco is 2-1 for the Governors’ Cup and are looking good early compared to the previous two conferences of the season.

The Bolts were just 3-8 in the Philippine Cup and 4-7 in the Commissioner’s Cup. Meralco missed the playoffs in both tournaments.

With former two-time Best Import Allen Durham back, the Bolts are in prime position to return to the playoffs that’s for sure. It’s up to Meralco to make it happen.

“Everytime na nandiyan si AD lagi kaming semis, minsan Finals. Kailangan i-grab namin ang opportunity na to kasi the last two conferences ang sama ng performance namin,” Amer said.

“Sana this conference pakita namin na deserving din kami sa playoffs. Hindi madali pero dapat pagtrabahuhan, tulungan kami,” he added.
