ANTIPOLO — Mr. Everything Marqus Blakely finally made his presence felt for Blackwater in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Blakely was a beast Saturday here, flirting with a quadruple-double as Blackwater got its first victory at the expense of Northport.
“I think I’m just a little bit more comfortable in the system, knowing what my teammates need out of me,” Blakely said.
“With the Magnola days and with TNT, we had more veteran leadership so it’s easier to mesh. With Magnolia I was coming back eah year so we just kept on building. It was kinda like a new start coming here,” he added.
After a lackuster start for both him and the rest of the Elite, Blakely credits renewed focus as to why they were able to finally break through with a win in the Governors’ Cup.
Blackwater is now 1-2 in the team standings.
“I just dedicate it to our week in practice,” he said.
“We had a very focused week, attention to detail was huge and I think it showed because defensively we played a lot better,” Blakely added.
