ANTIPOLO — After a 123-118 win over Phoenix, TNT head coach Bong Ravena was pretty unhappy about his team’s defense.
Ravena said that the KaTropa can’t afford to give up 118 points.
Saturday at the Ynares Center here, TNT’s defense was actually worse. Despite picking up another win, this time against Columbian, the KaTropa gave up 120 points in regulation.
Obviously, coach Bong is still not happy about it.
“We cannot afford our opponents having 30 points a quarter. We have to find ways to solve the problem,” Ravena said about their defense.
“We’re happy [about the win] but our concern is our defense. In our future games, di na pwede yung ganyan,” he added.
TNT has been a juggernaut this season and part of it is the team’s improved defense.
However, that tenacious D has been absent so far in the Governors’ Cup even while the KaTropa are leading the pack with a clean 4-0 mark.
“Individual, tapos yung rotation. You have to stop your man eh, gawan mo ng paraan,” Ravena said.
“Susunod na lang yung help di ba? Hopefully masasanay na rin ulit kami sa depensa. Hindi lang pwedeng outscore, you have to make stops,” he added.
