Incredible comeback by NLEX in Dubai.
The Road Warriors erased a 28-point deficit to frustrate Ginebra in overtime Saturday (Sunday morning in Manila) at the Coca-Cola Arena, picking up a huge 113-111 win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Kiefer Ravena completed the rally in regulation, sinking a booming triple to force a 103-all tie.
The Phenom then found Jericho Cruz for the final go-ahead triple with 20 seconds to go in extra time.
Ginebra tried to make up for its 111-113 deficit but Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio, and Stanley Pringle all missed shots at the basket inside the last 10 seconds.
The win pushed NLEX to 4-1 in the team standings, solo third behind unbeaten TNT (4-0) and San Miguel Beer (3-0).
NLEX had three 20-point scorers led by import Olu Ashaolu with 25. JP Erram scored 21 points, including three that forced an initial 100-all tie late in the fourth.
Philip Paniamogan also scored 20 for the Road Warriors while Kiefer Ravena and Jericho Cruz each had 13.
Kiefer also had a career-high 17 assists in the win.
Ginebra not only wasted a 28-point lead but the Gin Kings also wasted Justin Brownlee’s effort of 42 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Gin Kings dropped to 1-2 with back-to-back losses.
