With 17 seconds to go in regulation against Rain or Shine, RR Garcia had the chance to ice the game for Phoenix by shooting two free throws.
He missed both.
Seconds later, the Elasto Painters connected on a crucial jumper as rookie Javee Mocon forced an 84-all tie, leaving the Fuel Masters with 1.8 seconds to go for a winning play.
Garcia, who was subbed out after his two missed free throws, was put back in.
He would make the game-winning play by cashing in on Eugene Phelps’ find to complete an 86-84 victory for the Fuel Masters.
A pre-conference pickup for Phoenix, Garcia just wants to keep proving himself.
His second chance in the PBA is with Phoenix and he wants to make sure it counts. The Rain or Shine game Wednesday is a step in that direction.
