Troy Rosario was not having a good game Wednesday against Northport.
Through three quarters, he only had five points and was struggling with defense, personally responsible to most defensive breakdowns by the KaTropa.
Fortunately, Rosario was rejuvenated in the fourth quarter, making things up on offense as TNT barely escaped the Batang Pier for another win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Troy fired 17 points in the fourth and the KaTropa kept first place in the season-ending joust with a clean 5-0 record.
“Alam ko kailangan na ako ng team eh. Di maganda offense ko nung first three quarters, so kailangan ko na talaga bumawi,” he said.
“Ang dami ko rin breakdown sa depensa, kung naririnig niyo ako ina-ano ni coach kanina kasi halos ako lahat yung breakdown sa depensa. So kailangan ko bumawi sa opensa,” Rosario added.
Defense has been the main issue for TNT so far in the Governors’ Cup, despite the fact that the team is maintaining a perfect run.
While the defense was better against Northport compared to the KaTropa’s last two games, it’s still not quite good enough for the long term.
“Bukas may practice kami para makita ano mga breakdowns na nagawa namin ngayong game na to, paga-aralan namin para ma-improve next game,” Rosario said.
“Depensa talaga, madami kaming breakdowns. Nanalo kami sa mga games pero yun depensa namin pinapayagan namin kalaban na maka-score ng more than 100 points. Para samin, no-no yun,” he added.
